Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 5, strongly condemning the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. He expressed deep condolences over the loss of innocent lives and assured India of Russia’s full support in its fight against terrorism. Putin stressed that the perpetrators and their supporters must be brought to justice. During the call, the two leaders also discussed strengthening bilateral ties, reaffirming that India-Russia relations remain unaffected by external pressures. PM Modi invited President Putin to India for the upcoming Annual Summit, which Putin accepted. Modi also extended greetings on the 80th anniversary of Russia’s Victory Day. The call follows India’s strong retaliatory measures against Pakistan in response to the April 22 terror attack in Baisaran valley, Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives. India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, closed border checkpoints, blocked Pakistani ships from ports, and halted postal and trade links as part of its crackdown.
