In the wake of the devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives, India has taken a series of decisive actions to address the situation and signal its stance against cross-border terrorism.

Following a Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting, India announced significant diplomatic and policy shifts. These include the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, urging Pakistan to act against terror organizations. Pakistani military attachés have been expelled, and the staff at the Pakistani High Commission in India will be reduced from 55 to 30. India has also closed the Wagah-Attari border and revoked visas for Pakistani nationals, including those under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme, who have been given 48 hours to leave the country.

Simultaneously, military preparedness has been heightened. The Indian Air Force, equipped with Rafale jets and SCALP missiles, stands ready for deep-target precision strikes without crossing borders. The Indian Navy has also conducted missile tests in the Arabian Sea, showcasing defense readiness.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice and emphasized that India will not be intimidated. The international community, including the U.S., UK, and China, has voiced support for India’s strong stand.
