Brazil Confers Its Highest Civilian Honour on PM Modi

During his official visit to Brazil, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with the Grand Collar of the National Order of the Southern Cross, the highest civilian honour awarded by the Brazilian government. Presented by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva at a special ceremony held at the Alvorada Palace in Brasília, the honour recognises PM Modi’s efforts to strengthen India-Brazil relations and foster cooperation on global platforms such as BRICS, the G20, and the United Nations. This prestigious award is rarely bestowed on foreign leaders and signifies the deep respect and growing strategic partnership between the two nations. It reflects shared commitments in areas like trade, climate action, technology, and South-South cooperation. With this, PM Modi has now received 26 top international honours from various countries since taking office in May 2014.
