India has successfully conducted the accuracy test of the ‘Akash Prime’ missile, marking a major milestone in the country’s domestic defence development. Designed and developed by DRDO, with support from BEL, BDL, and private industry partners, the missile accurately intercepted two high-speed unmanned aerial targets during trials in the high-altitude region of Ladakh. Akash Prime features an indigenously developed active RF seeker, enabling precision targeting in all weather conditions and challenging terrains — a critical capability for frontline defence. This successful test reinforces India’s ability to design, build, and deploy advanced missile systems tailored for its unique security needs. It reflects the growing maturity of India’s domestic defence sector and its commitment to self-reliance, strategic autonomy, and technological leadership. These indigenous defence systems also boost the credibility of India as the net security provider in the region, extending beyond national borders — whether in the Indian Ocean or across the Indo-Pacific. With each such success, India moves closer to becoming a global hub for defence innovation and exports, solidifying its role in shaping a secure and self-reliant future.
